I'm Baaaaack!

Not that there are a heckuva lot of people that even knew I had been gone for some time, but for those who did, I have returned.

What has been happening? A lot, but when it comes to writing, not much. Well, that's not entirely true. I did finish another novel, bur due to some changes I made midway through, revisions were needed. Then, most of it disappeared: both hard copy and digital. So, I have been left ot try to recreate the magic. I have also been writing the tales of a teenaged hero who resides in the small coastal Maine town of King's Cove, also known as 'The Cove' to locals. Hopefully you will have a chance to read all about Frederick Alexander Torrance and his friends Julius "Jonesy" Jones, Evan Trudeau, and Odd Geroux (last names subject to change at the author's discretion and whim). Stay tuned to see excerpts from these adventures as they are available.

Summer Fun

Here in Florida summer is a time to have fun on the beaches, but there are also the afternoon thunderstorms to contend with.  This gives me ample time to spend tapping away at my keyboard.  I have also, with my daughter setting a good example, signed up for Camp NaNoWriMo which is essentially a miniaturized version of the program which had enabled me to write my first book.  It is also good practice for the actual NaNoWriMo which will be held in November.  Since the beginning of May I have been working on a project which has been the bane of my existence for the past two years.  I have started and stopped a few different versions of this project and even now do not have all of the details of what the book should be.  It is a living, breathing, and ever-changing entity which is doing its best to drive me insane.

To help keep me out of the loony bin, and to recharge my batteries on this project I have switched gears slightly today and begun work on another idea which I have been toying with off and on over the last ten years or so.  The first 1200 words flowed easily.  Hopefully the well has not dried out so quickly and there will still be more water to pump out over the next eighteen days so I can hit my word goal for July.

So with summer in full gear I am still hard at work on more ideas than I know what to do with.  Hopefully I can regain my focus on the major project in my writing life and I can turn the 35,000 words I have so far from the bits and pieces of story it is now into a full-blown novel before the end of the year. I would love to have editing to do at the beginning of 2015 and have it ready to be sent to publishers by the end of next year.

I plan to keep you a bit more updated on what is going on in my life so make it a point to stop in here every now and then.  Thank you so much for your support.

I'm not dead yet!

So I know I has been half of forever since I was last here and many people have likely given up on me ever returning, but I'm back.  Like the Prodigal Son it may take awhile, but I do come home.  Little has probably changed as far as the writing is concerned since the last time I typed here.  I am still working on the same stubborn writing project and finding the progress to be similar to slogging through a marsh.  It is slow and sloppy, but I know there is an end to it and I'll keep pushing until I make it.

If you are a first time reader, feel free to look around and see if there's anything you like.  If you have been here before, there is probably not much new, but go ahead and look anyway.  Or comment on something to light a fire under my a$$.

I will be back again soon with more progress and maybe a short story or poem to share.  Until then, however, enjoy what I've done in the past and anticipate what I'll do in the future.

Flexing my writing muscle

Sometimes it is quite the workout.  Sometimes I wake up and I just don't feel like it, but day after day I sit down at my computer and a type away.  The words don't always come easy and the writing is not always what I would consider good, but it is there.  I have begun to treat each day like I am competing in NaNoWriMo because that was how I successfully completed my first novel.

What do I have to report? Well I am now starting Chapter Seven of my new work.  I am trying to keep it genre neutral for now so suffice it to say that it is a little outside what you might expect from me, but rest assured there is still plenty of interesting goings on in this one.  I am excited to be working on one project and devoting my attention to that though I have been tempted to write some of the other things I have in the works.

Watch this spot as you never know when you might see an excerpt from my new work and now it is time for a shameless plug.  Feel free to purchase my first book 'The Death of Harold Hartline' through Amazon.com either in book form or in eBook for your Kindle.  Also it should soon be available for Nook as well.  Thanks for reading and supporting me in literary endeavors.
